On November 18th, we made some soup. Some of the parents donated ingredients to school. We put onions, sweet potatoes, white radish, carrots, Tofu, Miso, pork, konnyaku. Children helped cutting carrots and sweet potatoes. The principle took over cooking afterwards. While children were playing outside, they noticed the smell of the soup. Some of the children excitedly said smelled good in the whole school.
When we had the soup in lunch time, most of the children liked it very much. A few children can’t eat certain vegetable at home though they ate it with the soup.
The parents who donated ingredients for us, thank you very much.
November is “Community Month” which is when we have different volunteers from our community come and visit our school to talk about what they do! This year we had the Lomita Fire Department, Narita Dentist, and Lomita Post Officer give a little speech as well as teach the kids a few things about their job, safety, personal hygine etc.
Most of the children were very excited to have visitors and to learn new things! The children were very engaged and had many questions they wanted to ask and things they wanted to see.. This was great for the children, and also for the school to be more connected to our community!
